Irises - Wonky Log Cabin Miniature Quilt
Downloadable .PDF pattern for Foundation Paper Piecing Pattern for this stunning purple and lime green 10" Irises Miniature Quilt with a scalloped border. Each wonky log cabin block in the quilt finishes at 2.5", framed by an inner border and the outer scalloped border finishing at 1" wide.
Fabric: This quilt uses less than 1/16 yard of each of 4 shades of purples and 1/8 of the darkest 5th shade. You need about a 1/4 yard of the contrast lime green. I used Fossil Fern by Benartex, but batks would also look good. The backing and batting needs just 12" squares. If you decide to bind instead of facing the scallops, you need about 2 yards of bias binding.
Expertise Level: Confident Beginner to Intermediate . Familiarity with Foundation paper piecing is essential.
Each of the blocks is a single FPP template and if you are familiar with FPP, it should be a breeze to piece. If you do not feel confident about attempting the scalloped border, you may add a narrow sashing and choose to finish with a simple border.
Your pattern includes 2 files:
1. Instructions and templates for the piecing and assembly of
- FPP Templates for wonky log cabin blocks finishing at 2.5" x 2.5". * ( See Note)
- Mock-ups of other possibilities with the block. A Master template for the quilt (un-numbered and uncoloured) is included for you to explore your own colour combinations.
2. Tutorial for the scalloped border plus the template for the 1" wide scallop, finishing at 10"
NOTE: The templates are colour coded for the purple and green Irises mini. The Halloween Trails (in purples and orange) and Rainy Days (in greys/ blue) minis featured in the photos use the same pattern. You could do your own colour coding on the Master Template, or buy the pattern including specifically colour-coded FPP templates for those, also available for purchase.
